UL Solutions in Canada – Working for a safer world for the past 100 years

UL Solutions in Canada is an independent product safety testing, certification and inspection organization. We have tested products for public safety for over 100 years and we are accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and International Accreditation Service, Inc.

Founded in 1920 and celebrating our 105th anniversary in Canada, UL Solutions is a key architect of the Canadian National Safety System, administered by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). UL Solutions Canada’s time-tested system supports governmental product safety regulations, and it complements federal, provincial, and municipal public safety initiatives. In Canada, UL Solutions also works with other governments and international safety systems to help further international trade with adherence to local and international safety requirements.

Standards for safety

UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE Inc.) is an independent, not-for-profit standards development organization that develops and advocates for standards, the criteria used to ensure products, services, and systems work as safely as possible for the user. ULSE Inc develops safety and performance standards and specifications and is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, under the National Standards System. In 2025 ULSE Inc consolidated its two separate accredited SDO’s (ULC Standards and Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) into one SCC accredited SDO under ULSE Inc.

UL Standards & Engagement ULSE Inc publishes and maintains close to 300 Canadian safety standards and other related documents. These standards play an important part in improving public safety. ULSE Inc employs a consensus-based process of developing effective product safety standards, using input from consumers, manufacturers, government agencies, users, regulatory authorities and other interested parties.
