In cooperation with the CPSC and Health Canada, Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. is recalling 91,000 Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs that were installed Toshiba Portege, Satellite and Tecra laptops. (10,000 were sold in Canada) The recall indicates that the lithium-ion battery packs can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers. Sold from June 2011 through January 2016, Toshiba received four reports of the battery packs overheating and melting. No reports of injuries have been reported.
